Start with the material
Make separate lists for household items, appliances, green waste and construction debris. A sofa and a pile of broken tile may occupy similar space but be treated very differently by a municipal program. Describe mixed loads honestly when asking Sandlot for an estimate.
Many Phoenix-area programs restrict renovation debris. Scottsdale and Tempe exclude construction and remodeling waste; Mesa separates appliances from its ordinary bulk service; Queen Creek distinguishes area rugs from installed carpet and padding. Use the city links below for current details rather than a generic Valley-wide rule.
Compare the work you need done
City collection usually comes with set-out instructions. Check where the items must be placed and whether you can safely get them there. Sandlot’s published service includes lifting and loading, so a request can describe items still in a room, garage or upstairs space.
Private removal also needs clear access information. Tell Sandlot about stairs, a tight gate, a loading dock or a long carry. If items are still attached to the building, ask for demolition review instead of assuming they are ready for pickup.
Check timing and eligibility
A city name in a mailing address does not automatically establish eligibility for a municipal program. Check the property’s actual solid-waste provider, account requirements, collection schedule and accepted materials. HOA or building rules may add access restrictions.
Compare current municipal fees and limits directly with the program, then request Sandlot’s estimate for the scope you need. There is no owner-approved Sandlot rate table published here. Neither city collection nor a private request should be treated as scheduled until it is confirmed.
Keep hazards out of either ordinary load
Paint, solvents, fuels, oils, asbestos, chemicals and medical waste are outside Sandlot’s accepted materials. Do not hide them among otherwise acceptable items. Ask the relevant local program or appropriate specialist about the correct route.
Where practical, Sandlot sorts usable materials for donation or recycling. That is not a promise that every item can be diverted or that a particular organization will accept it. Tell the team if you have an item you hope to reuse before deciding it belongs in the removal pile.
Check your city’s own guidance
Each local page explains a distinct planning issue and links to the relevant official source. City guidance is separate from Sandlot’s services and pricing.
- Phoenix — Choose between a city bulk appointment and a crew that carries it out.
- Scottsdale — Plan remodel debris separately from brush and bulk pickup.
- Tempe — Separate move-out contents from renovation waste.
- Mesa — Check the separate routes for appliances and remodel materials.
- Chandler — Make the inventory before choosing your collection route.
- Gilbert — Keep brush, household clutter and remodeling debris distinct.
- Glendale — Plan around the collection week without mixing in demolition debris.
- Peoria — Resolve the removal boundary before a structure comes down.
- Surprise — Confirm your collection provider before arranging a property cleanout.
- Queen Creek — Distinguish area rugs from removed flooring and confirm item acceptance.
